ROUEN, FRANCE — A fire at a Senalia grain silo in France’s Rouen port on March 4 led to a halt in operations. According to Senalia, the accident occurred in the Presqu'île Elie silo, during wheat transferring operations between two silos.
“A mechanical incident on a conveyor located outside the installation led to the start of a fire and the cessation of operations,” Senalia said. “The alert and safety chain worked well. The firefighters were able to intervene very quickly.”
The company was expected to restart operations on March 7.
Senalia operates the largest grain and agro-industrial port terminals in the port of Rouen, with a total capacity of more than 800,000 tonnes. Rouen port is France’s largest grain export terminal.
