BEIJING, CHINA — Even with a record corn crop, China will be the world’s largest corn importer for the second year in a row, Successful Farming reported, citing the monthly World Agricultural Production report.
China’s crop is forecast at 273 million tonnes, a 5% increase from last year. Still, China is expected to import 26 million tonnes of corn, the same amount as the 2020-21 marketing year.
Corn yields per hectare are 5% above average this season.
