STUTTGART, ARKANSAS, US — A soybean storage bin caught fire on May 23 at a Riceland Foods plant in Stuttgart, Arkansas, KLRT reported.
A Riceland spokesperson told the television station that the fire started while crews were cleaning out bins and that firefighters had to cut into the bins to get to the flames and put the fire out.
The fire also spread to the plant’s water treatment facility next to the grain bins, the spokesperson told KLRT.
No estimate on the fire damage was given.
Riceland’s soybean terminal in Stuttgart has a listed storage capacity of 8,195,000 bushels, according to Sosland Publishing’s 2021 Grain & Milling Annual.
