BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA — Argentina’s wheat planted area is expected to increase 1.5% from the previous season to 6.7 million hectares due in part to favorable weather, Reuters reported, citing the Bahia Blanca Grains Exchange.

It said the latest rains have partially restored soil moisture, which will provide a good starting point for wheat sowing.

The Buenos Aires Grains Exchange also has estimated this season’s wheat planting at 6.7 million hectares.

Wheat planting in the country will start in earnest in mid-May.
