MAUMEE, OHIO, U.S. — Thompsons Limited of Ontario, Canada, has changed its legal name to The Andersons Canada Limited, a wholly-owned entity of The Andersons, Inc.
“Similar to Thompsons, The Andersons has a long history of growing enduring relationships through extraordinary service and a deep knowledge of the market,” said Corey Jorgenson, senior vice-president of The Andersons Trade Group. “Combining our teams in Ontario and across North America allows us a far more diverse platform of businesses to improve market access for all of our customers and allows us to bring new producer and end-user risk management tools to more markets.”
The Andersons has owned at least 50% of Thompsons since 2015. It assumed full ownership of the company in January 2019 via its acquisition of Lansing Trade Group.
In December 2019, The Andersons, Inc. completed the sale of the agronomy business of Thompsons Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary in Ontario, Canada, to Sylvite of Burlington, Ontario.
The Andersons will continue to own and operate Thompsons’ (The Andersons Canada Limited) grain storage and edible bean processing facilities in Ontario, while Sylvite will assume ownership of its agronomy assets. The company will share space and resources with Sylvite and work with them to create a transition for growers.
