SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL — JBS SA, a Brazilian meatpacker, is looking to import 200,000 tonnes of corn due to high domestic prices, according to Reuters.
JBS said the corn import shipments are expected to arrive early 2020 in Brazil.
“The company’s decision is based on the best competitiveness in relation to the current grain cost in Brazil,” JBS told Reuters.
According to Reuters, Brazilian corn prices have risen more than 30% since September due to short supply.
