GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — Grain trading group COFCO International announced on Nov. 22 the appointment of Richeng Luan as company chairman.
Luan has served as vice-president of COFCO since 2016, responsible for the group’s grains and oilseeds, sugar and cotton businesses.
He is chairman of several COFCO subsidiaries, including COFCO Trading, China Agri and Chinatex. Before joining COFCO, Luan was general manager of Chinatex, which became a wholly owned subsidiary of COFCO in 2016.
Luan succeeds Jingtao (Johnny) Chi, who has stepped down as COFCO chairman after being appointed president of China Grain Reserves Group (Sinograin). Chi served as CEO and vice-chairman of COFCO in 2017 and was appointed chairman in October 2018.
COFCO also announced that Wei (David) Dong was appointed vice-chairman of the company.
