YANGON, MYANMAR — Wilmar Myanmar, a subsidiary of Wilmar International, plans to build a rice mill in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, Eleven Media Group reported.
The facility will have a capacity of 1,200 tonnes per day (tpd).
The company recently opened a flour mill and consumer pack edible oil processing plant in the economic zone. The mill has a capacity of 530 tpd and the oil plant has a capacity of 460 tpd.
Wilmar marked the start of construction on the rice mill in conjunction with the opening ceremony for the flour mill and soy facility.
Once the rice mill is complete, rice bags will be exported via the Thilawa jetty.
The jetty is 234-meters long and 25 meters wide. Plans are underway to extend the jetty to 390 meters long and 13 meters depth of water.
