TAVISTOCK, ONTARIO, CANADA — Trouw Nutrition Canada plans to acquire Yantzi’s Feed & Seed Ltd., according to The Beacon Herald.
The acquisition includes Yantzi’s feed manufacturing, grain storage, crop input facility and retail store in Travistock, grain elevator on Perth Line 29 and the retail store and crop inputs business on Pert Line 119 in Brunner, The Beacon Herald noted.
Kevin Weppler, Trouw Nutrition’s Ontario general manager, told The Beacon Herald that the purchase will secure Trouw’s ability to serve the Tavistock area with feed as well as increase the company’s production and storage capacity.
Founded in 1958, Yantzi’s has a grain storage capacity of 16,000 tonnes with two sites equipped with a dryer along with an elevator system.
The purchase takes effective Nov. 1.
Weppler also told The Beacon Herald once the acquisition is complete the Yantzi’s business will close for inventory on Nov. 2 and reopen on Nov. 4. Trouw intends to keep all Yantzi employees on staff.
Trouw Nutrition Canada Inc. (formerly Nutreco Canada) was formed in 2017 following the integration of Shur-Gain, Landmark Feeds, Hi-Pro Feeds, and Nutreco’s combined animal nutrition businesses in Canada.
Trouw Nutrition/Shur-Gain serve Canadian producers with plants from Chilliwack, British Columbia, to Moncton, New Brunswick. In total, the company operates 18 facilities and 6 offices across Canada. Trouw serves its customers from 16 animal feed and premix manufacturing facilities, with an annual production of approximately 1.1 million tonnes of feed for swine, poultry, beef and dairy cattle.
Additionally, Trouw Nutrition/Shur-Gain operate two fully dedicated pet food plants located in St. Marys, Ontario, and Chilliwack, British Columbia.
