NEW DELHI, INDIA — India’s grain output is expected to total 283.37 million tonnes in the current crop year, slightly lower than a year earlier, Reuters said, citing a government statement released on June 3.
In the 2017-18 crop year, the country produced 285.01 million tonnes of grain.
Rice output is expected to reach a record 115.63 million tonnes, up from 112.76 million a year ago.
India is the world’s leading producer of rice and also grows wheat, cotton and sugar.
