MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. — The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) is offering an online grain dust explosion prevention course May 14 – June 18. Registration for the course closes May 8.
The GEAPS 544 course is designed for anyone who needs to know why grain dust explosions occur and how to prevent them. That includes grain facility safety managers, local and regional facility managers and superintendents, new grain industry employees and contractors.
The GEAPS/KSU distance education program features 10 modules, including:
- Housekeeping
- Preventative maintenance
- Preventative training
- Responding to an explosion
“The course re-opened my eyes to the hazards that are around us every day in our industry and why housekeeping is important,” said Ashley Reschny, CGOM, Parrish & Heimbecker Ltd. “This would be a good course for anyone starting in the industry, to show why we clean all the time.”
The GEAPS 544 course counts toward the specialist credential in property and casualty risk management.
