ANTALYA, TURKEY — A pre-conference workshop in cooperation with the International Association of Operative Millers will be offered prior to the 15th International Congress and Expo of Turkish Flour Industrialists’ Federation.

The workshop will be April 24-25 at the Sueno Deluxe Hotel in Antalya, Turkey. The TUSAF event follows April 25-28.

Information will be presented by Hamit Köksel, president of the International Association for Cereal Science and Technology (ICC) and lecturer at Hacettepe University; Mehmet Sertaç Özer, lecturer at Çukurova University; and Jeff Gwirtz, president of JAG Services company and lecturer at Kansas State University.

Additionally, companies that plan to participate in the congress and expo will be given the opportunity to present their areas of expertise and share information through tables offered free of charge.

Companies that would like to make a presentation should submit the subject and justification to the TUSFA committee at ozelkalem@tusaf.org by April 1. The committee will review the presentations and decide who will be included.

Topics to be covered by the workshop instructors and company representatives include structure and milling properties of wheat grain, flour quality and meeting the market demands, determination of wheat and flour quality in the lab, storage, wheat cleaning equipment and principles of separation, crushing system, sieving system and selection of the correct sieve, control of mill pests, residues and mycotoxins, flour developers, thinning system and sieving and semolina cleaning systems.

Those who already have registered for the congress and expo can participate in the workshop free of charge. It is possible to attend just the workshop for a fee.
