First, with Cargill’s donation, the Don Bosco Community Center of Kansas City, Missouri, U.S., will provide food assistance to individuals and families facing a crisis or other financial hardship. The organization, which Cargill has partnered with in the past, provides emergency services including, food, clothing, rent, job counseling, utilities and furniture to those in need.
Next, Hope City of Kansas City will use Cargill’s donation to purchase supplies for its food pantry, which serves more than 4,000 people each month. The funds will also help offset the cost of meals provided to more than 700 families in need.
Last, with Cargill’s support, Hope Faith Ministries of Kansas City will restock items in its dry food pantry, walk-in freezer and walk-in refrigerator. These supplies are needed to provide essential nutrition to those seeking the organization’s services.
“The heart of these organizations is their kitchens, which provides resources and services to those in need,” said Eric Keller, regional marketing lead at Cargill’s soybean processing plant in Kansas City. “As a food company, we have a unique opportunity to improve the communities where we live by helping those who are most in need, and we’re proud to do so.”
