BELLEVUE, OHIO, U.S. — Multiple fire departments responded to a grain bin fire at a Bunge facility in Bellevue, Ohio, U.S., on Nov. 20.
A firefighter at the scene was treated at a local hospital and released.
Bunge spokesperson Susan Burns said on Nov. 21 portions of the plant have restarted operations. The company is still assessing the impact of the fire but anticipates full startup soon, she said.
The facility is a soy crushing plant.
Firefighters were called to the scene about 8:30 a.m. A majority of the fire was contained by noon, but crews remained on the scene through the afternoon putting out hot spots.
According to news reports, there was an explosion at the facility after firefighters arrived. The firefighter taken to the hospital was injured in that blast.
