KIEV, UKRAINE – Ukraine has exported 14.1 million tonnes of grain thus far in the 2018-19 marketing year (July-June) and is forecast to top last year’s total of 39.4 million tonnes, Ukraine’s agriculture ministry said on Nov. 7
The ministry said Ukraine expects to harvest 64 million tonnes of grain this year, compared with 61.3 million in 2017-18. Exports are projected to rise to 42.5 million tonnes.
Corn is playing a big role in the increased export total as Ukraine already has exported 3.2 million tonnes this year, compared with 2 million tonnes at this point last year.
The ministry said Ukraine has exported 7.8 million tonnes of wheat so far this year, down from 8.6 million tonnes in the same period a year ago.
