DECATUR, ILLINOIS, U.S. — Firefighters responded to a dust explosion and fire at Archer Daniels Midland Co.’s North American headquarters located at 4666 Faries Parkway in Decatur early on Nov. 3.
“Saturday morning at approximately 1 a.m., there was an explosion in the grain elevator that serves our corn and soybean plants in the Decatur complex,” said Jackie Anderson, a spokesperson with ADM. “Fortunately no one was injured, and we were able to quickly control the resulting fire with assistance from the Decatur fire department. We are currently investigating the cause and working to assess the damage.”
ADM operates 410 grain storage facilities with total licensed grain storage capacity of 468.566 million bushels, according to Sosland Publishing Company’s Grain & Milling Annual 2019.
