DAVIS, CALIFORNIA, U.S. — The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted a patent for extended shelf life wheat from Davis-based Arcadia Biosciences, Inc. U.S. Patent No. 10,087,445 is called “Wheat With Reduced Lipoxygenase Activity.” The patent covers technology that extends the storage life of wheat flour by minimizing oxidation.
“Commercial plans are under way, and we look forward to sharing these soon,” said Raj Ketkar, president and chief executive officer of Arcadia Biosciences.
The wheat is the newest trait in Arcadia’s GoodWheat portfolio. The company, which develops and markets food ingredients and oils, has more than 195 patents and patent applications that it owns or exclusively controls.
