A representative of The Workers’ Federation of the Industrial Oilseed Complex, which represents employees at Argentina’s soy crushing plants, told Reuters that Bunge informed workers about the decision on July 23.
Carlos Zamboni, the union’s legal adviser, told Reuters that the union plans to protest the lay-offs with a strike that could include different port areas in Argentina.
Bunge’s Ramallo plant is one of six industrial port complexes that the company operates in Argentina.
