BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA — Bunge Ltd., a leading producer of soymeal and soyoil, is planning to cease operations at a soy crushing plant at the port of Ramallo in Buenos Aires, according to a report fromReuters. The move, which has not been confirmed by Bunge, is expected to affect 60 workers.

A representative of The Workers’ Federation of the Industrial Oilseed Complex, which represents employees at Argentina’s soy crushing plants, told Reuters that Bunge informed workers about the decision on July 23.

Carlos Zamboni, the union’s legal adviser, told Reuters that the union plans to protest the lay-offs with a strike that could include different port areas in Argentina.

Bunge’s Ramallo plant is one of six industrial port complexes that the company operates in Argentina.
