Ukraine in recent years has been among the top 5 exporters of barley and corn.
 
KIEV, UKRAINE — Ukraine grain exports since the beginning of this marketing year are lagging behind the previous year, according to the country’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

 

As of May 14, Ukraine exported 35.1 million tonnes of grain since July 2017, 10% lower than last year at this time when 38 million tonnes had been shipped.

A statement from the Ministry notes that “15.6 million tonnes of wheat, 4.2 million tonnes of barley, 35,000 tonnes of rye and 15.2 million tonnes of corn were exported. In addition, 392,000 tonnes of flour were exported.”

The Ministry said that in the 2016-17 marketing year 44 million tonnes of grain were exported to foreign markets. In particular, 17.5 million tonnes of wheat, 5.4 million tonnes of barley, 11,400 tonnes of rye and 20.7 million tonnes of corn and 403,000 tonnes of flour were exported during this period.
